RED CLIFF, the triumphant return of action-cinema master John Woo, opens theatrically in New York on November 18, followed by a national rollout on November 25.

A massive hit in Asia and the most expensive Chinese film ever made, RED CLIFF reunites Woo and international superstar Tony Leung for the first time since the 1992 classic HARD BOILED. A breathtaking war epic, RED CLIFF brings to the screen the legendary tale of the Battle of Red Cliff that took place in 208 AD and was immortalized in the classic Chinese novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

RED CLIFF features several of the most well known Asian actors in the world working today, such as Tony Leung (LUST, CAUTION;IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE), Takeshi Kaneshiro (CHUNGKING EXPRESS, HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS), Zhang Fengyi (FAREWELL MY CONCUBINE, THE EMPEROR AND THE ASSASSIN), and Chang Chen (CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON).

Two strong and beautiful women are at the heart of this evocative story, playing key parts in the outcome. Chiling Lin, currently known as the most beautiful woman in Taiwan, plays the wife of Viceroy Zhou Yu (Tony Leung), Xiao Quiao. Zhao Wei (also known as Vicky Zhao) is a household name in China for both her feature film and television roles. She plays Sun Shangxiang, the stout-hearted sister of warlord Sun Quan (Chang Chen), and it is her exceptional bravery spying behind enemy lines which plays a significant role in turning Zhou Yu’s army’s fortunes around.
